Introduction

Welcome to Issue 1, Volume 13 of GAMUT, the online journal of the Music Theory Society of the Mid-Atlantic.
We are pleased to publish a pair of insightful analytic articles as the first two articles in this volume. Both analyses treat recent concert music with a careful ear and with a broad analytic methodology that deepens our sense of the musical contribution of these works.
